Local 76 would like to pass along our deepest condolences to retired Fire Lieutenant Joe Galvin and retired Firefighter Bob Galvin and their families with the passing of their father Joseph J. Galvin on September 1st. Joseph was also the grandfather of Firefighter Bobby Galvin (E-1/Gr.1)
Local 76 would like to wish Firefighter Cindy Snow a long, healthy and enjoyable retirement. Cindy retired on Friday September 3rd after 12 years of service.
Local 76 would like to wish Firefighter Jim Burns a long, healthy and enjoyable retirement. Jim retired on Thursday September 2nd after 37 years of service.
Congratulations to Firefighter Paul Moreira (E-2/Gr.3) and his wife on the birth of their daughter Gabriella on August 23rd.

Local 76 would like to pass along our deepest condolences to the family of retired Firefighter Lieutenant Jim Donahue who passed away on August 2nd.
Local 76 would like to wish Firefighter Larry Sullivan (E7/Gr.2) a long, healthy and enjoyable retirement. Larry retired on July 9th after 32 years on the Somerville Fire Department. Local 76 would like to say thank you to Larry for his many years of service to the department and to the people of Somerville.
Congratulations to Firefighter Kenny Silva (E-7/Gr.1) and his wife Andrena on the birth of their daughter Julia on June 22nd.
Local 76 would like to wish Lt. Joe Galvin and Deputy Chief Steve Keenan long, healthy and enjoyable retirements. Both men retired on Wednesday June 16th. Lt. Galvin served the Somerville Fire Department for 41 years, while Deputy Chief Keenan provided 32 years of service.
Congratulations to Probationary Firefighters Christopher Clark, David Farino, Robert Galvin Jr., Sean Layton, Keith McInnis, Timothy O'Hearn and Jason Ruf who all graduated the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy on Friday June 11th.
Local 76 would like to wish Firefighter Tom Carroll a long, healthy and enjoyable retirement. "TC" retired at midnight on Monday May 31st after 38 years of service. The men and women of Local 76 would like to thank "Top Cat" for all of his hard work and dedication to the department and to the City of Somerville.
Local 76 would like to wish Senior Fire Alarm Operator Wayne Kennedy a long, healthy and enjoyable retirement. Wayne retired on May 20th.

Somerville Firefighters Local 76 Hockey All Stars were victorious in Guns-n-Hoses VI on Saturday February 27th. The Jakes of Local 76 kept their perfect record against the Somerville Police Hockey team intact with a 7-0 shutout and have improved to 6-0 against the SPD.
Congratulations to Probationary Firefighter Josue Velney who graduated from the Massachusetts Fire Academy on Friday February 26th.

Local 76 would like to wish Captain Mike Heck a long, healthy and enjoyable retirement. Captain Heck retired on Friday January 22nd after 32 years of service.
Local 76 would like to welcome Probationary Firefighters Josue Velney and Jay Ruf who recently joined the ranks of the Somerville Fire Department. FFOP Velney is the brother of FF Jocelyn Velney (E-6/Gr.4) and is currently attending the Mass. Fire Academy. FFOP Ruf is the son-in-law of FF Bobby Connelly (T-1/Gr.2) and is currently doing some in-house training. He is scheduled to attend the Mass. Fire Academy in March.

Local 76 would like to pass along our deepest condolences to Lt. Jim Nolan (L-3/Gr.2), his son - Firefighter Derek Nolan (E-7/Gr.3) and their family with the passing of Jim's mother, Rena.
Congratulations to Firefighter Pat Keane (T-1/Gr.4) who was presented with the Thomas Chetham Award as the Somerville Firefighter of the Year by the V.F.W. Logan Post #19. While off-duty, Firefighter Keane helped rescue and administer medical aid to two men who had tried to commit suicide by jumping from the Tobin Bridge into the Mystic River below.

Local 76 would like to pass along our deepest condolences to the family of retired Firefighter Lieutenant Edward Clifford who passed away on October 5th.
Local 76 is proud to announce that we raised $9500 for MDA this year with our "Fill the Boot" campaign. Thank you to all of our members who helped out. And thank you to all of the citizens who donated money to this great cause.
Lt. Dick Dobson retired on June 29th after 36 years of service. Local 76 would like to thank Lt. Dobson for all of his years of service to the department and to Local 76 and we would like to wish him all the best for many, many happy years of retirement.
